The first group of Witches have arrived.

The embroidery on block two of the Hocuspocusville Quilt is coming along and should be done in the next day or so as long as my fingers aren't too sore.
I bought a new pattern from Crabapple Hill Studio last week and I have to say my collection from this company is growing as is my collection of Witch themed embroidery and quilt patterns.
This pattern The Mystery of The Salem Witches Quilt Guild is the first of 3 panels the bottom part of the photo is the actual panel piece to be hand embroidered and crayon tinted. From the moment I saw the first sketches the artist posted on her Facebook page I knew I would buy it as soon as it was available.  Not only do I plan to make the panel I want to make each witch on a separate block of fabric either for a quilt or a small wall hanging or even a tote bag.

Welcome Autumn

Autumn
Crunchy leaves, a cool crisp breeze.
Oh what wonderful days are these!
Trees with apples, green and red.
Gather food, winter’s ahead!
Orange pumpkins, full and round.
The beauty of the earth abound!
Changing leaves, red and gold.
Shorter days are turning cold.
The veil between the worlds is thin,
Time for us to look within.
Mabon past, Samhain will come.
The ripeness of the summer done.
The wheel is turning, circling round,
The wonder of nature does astound!

Happy Autumn

Ort report, TUSAL for September 2015

Once again its the monthly New Moon (time does fly) and we all know what that means, its TUSAL time.  Here are my ORTS for this months Tusal, Not sure what a TUSAL is well simply put its the Totally Useless Stitch A Long hosted by It's Daffy Cat click the link if you want to know more or want to join too.
http://itsdaffycat.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-totally-useless-stitch-long-2015.html

Any way here are my orts most are black threads from the Hocuspocusville Quilt blocks, that's block
number two under the threads ther white threads are from the fabric edges, there are a few green threads in there from my Holly King piece I work on when all those black threads make my eyes blur.

My ORTS jar is nearly full but there is room for the next few months ORT Reports left in 2015 I just tamp them down and keep on stitching.
If you save your Orts and aren't sure what to do with them here is a short tutorial on making Ornaments.http://hugsarefun.com/embroidery-floss-ornaments/

Well that's my September Tusual Ort report.

We are having a rainy Sunday here in my neck of the woods so I plan to spend a few hours stitching.

Stitching Update

Here is a short update on the hand embroidery projects I have been doing this week. This is block two Hester's U-Pick for the Hocuspocusville Quilt.
The Holly King for my Greenman series is coming along nicely, I decided to crayon tint the piece.
I will probably use a satin stitch when I embroider the holly and mistletoe berries but I colored tinted them anyway.

A friend sent me this cute pattern to make primitive stlye witch heads.  I may tea dye muslin fabric for the heads.

The Potting Shed block stitching is complete

The hand embroidery for block #1 of Hocuspocusville quilt, the Potting Shed is complete. I decided
The Potting Shed, block one
to use all black emboridery floss according to the pattern for this quilt, the next time around though I will use more colors like the blocks below, this one adds just a small bit of orange.
Here is a link for the website where you can view more of the photos for the quilt
https://sewcolorful.wordpress.com/2011/01/12/block-of-the-months-the-beginning/
This block uses a few more colors and metallic thread for the spiderweb which I debated for a few days.

Eventually I will make another as I planned using more floss colors, for me stitching with just the black floss means I have to have another project to work on when I need a change of thread color, pretty much what I did when stitching the greenman, so I am tracing a few small projects for this purpose.

It's September!

So nice to be starting a whole new month, I am not sorry to see the summer coming to an end, this year I felt the heat and the humidity from the early days of July and it wasn't pleasant.

Tropical Storm Ericka so far hasn't brought the rain expected which is nice the humidity the past two days has been quite heavy but the temps aren't quite as hot.

I keep telling myself Autumn is just around the bend.
