Marching Along With Some Slow Sunday Stitching

Here we are on the 1st Sunday in March so I'm going to post a few stitching projects I have in mind for the month and beyond.

I purchased this cute little wool applique kit from Through the Needle's Eye.  It includes everything

you need to complete the 3 Potstickers plus the bonus egg pattern below.  Also, a package of sunflower seeds which I will start this week.

Yesterday I began to craft a new Goddess piece this time using the slow stitch approach, much like the way I made the K3n.clothtales week 7 heart.
I chose the green template for my first piece, traced it onto a piece of muslin fabric, loaded my needles with random pieces of floss too long for my Orts jar.
I always save the longer threads from my stitches in a little bag so when I am making a little stitchery I can pull pieces from it.
I began stitching random bits of  mostly floral scrap fabrics onto the base of the goddess, moving them about until I liked the direction they were going.
Then midway through, I switched the direction of the scraps.

I changed the way I placed the scraps again and then proceeded up her arms.  I just need to do the head.

Once all the fabric scraps are placed I will start some random stitching and add in some hand embroidery stitching as well.  Once all the stitching is completed I will place the original template on top, cut out the goddess and put her on a background fabric.  Here is the heart I mentioned above, when the heart began it was just a traced heart onto muslin than I added the scraps and did the stitching, added the heart and button, placed the original template on top and cut it out resulting in the heart below.
I will be working on the goddess piece today for my slow Sunday stitching and linking this post up at Kathy's Quilts here:https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/03/slow-sunday-stitching.html

Also this month I will work on the Kathy Schmitz Woven Wreaths SAL piece for March, it's a cute little bee.  Tomorrow is week 10 of the k3n.clothtales SAL and Week 4 of the Woolie Friends Dancing Tulips SAL.  If interested here are the links

Stitching along this Memorial Day

I'm getting restless once again and need a change from the black threads of the Hocuspocusville quilt embroidery something with a bit more color so while I work along on the seventh block later today I am going to trace out the patterns for a few summer stitchery patterns, more about that later in my post. First here is the progress I made yesterday on the seventh block, not too much was done but its progress
block seven
I will link up at Supermom No Cape for the Monday link up party.  If you are curious click the link and take a look what other bloggers are working on.

The arrival of Memorial Day for many signifies the start of summer even though we have a few weeks of spring remaining. Every where I look lately I see an abundance of color popping up not just in gardens, there is our clothing, fabrics and home decor.
Since I need a project or two to divert my eyes from all the black threads I have chosen these three patterns to put on the light box today.  All Crab-apple Hill Studio, I may be just a little obsessesed with the patterns.http://www.crabapplehillstudio.com/
My fingers have been aching terribly from the numbness and tingling so a change from needle to pen should give some relief.
I have all the required embroidery threads for each pattern, the fabrics too, so all I need to do is press the fabrics, trace the embroidery patterns and then decide which one I will begin first.  Having three projects ready will make taking short breaks from the black embroidery easier.  I plan to work on the rest of the area shown in the photo of block seven done later today.

I wish all of you a safe  Memorial Day

Stitching Merrily Along

Another Sunday is upon us so its time for some Slow Sunday Stitching, this week I have a few hand stitched items I was working on, today I will be stitching my embroidery on block four of the Hocuspocusville Quilt I would really like to get this block complete this week.
The hand pieced quilt block I made for the Project 48 Quilt, the 2016 mystery quilt stitch along I have joined this is my first ever mystery quilt and I do love the surprise of what block comes next,
I have to say I like this colorway better than the one I made on the sewing machine. Later today I will put together block 2 which is something called the disappearing nine-patch which is an interesting spin on a nine patch block.

I made more progress on the Celtic Knot embrodiery piece though not as much as I would have liked.
I am linking up here http://www.kathysquilts.blogspot.ca/2016/01/slow-sunday-stitching_17.html
why don't you drop by and check out what other bloggers are hand stitching this week.

December's New Moon Ort Report

Another New Moon is on the horizon so its time once again for a picture of my Orts for this months TUSAL Report. Not sure what a TUSAL is click the link and let Daffycat tell you all about it. http://itsdaffycat.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-totally-useless-stitch-long-2015.html

I have a nice little pile of Orts mostly from the Holly King and block three of the HocusPocusville Quilt.
December Orts
I made good progress on Sunday slow stitching and hope to have this block completed shortly as long as my fingers hold up.
bubble and brew block 3
Well that's it for my December Tusal report, its been a wonderful year of stitching and taking part in the Totally Useless Stitch A Long motivates me to stitch more.
Here is a shot of my orts jar filled with most of my threads for the year, there is still room for more which I plan to add in the last weeks of this year. Its been a very good stitching year for me and for the up coming new year I will carry over my goal of last year to add more creative activity in my life.
Taking part in the TUSAL and Slow Sunday Stitching over at Kathy's Quilts ( http://www.kathysquilts.blogspot.ca/ ) has really helped keep me motivated not only to stitch more but to venture into other areas I haven't tried before.
