Autumn Crafting Continues

While I may not have this view outside my window the internet certainly has an abundance of Autumn photos to enjoy.  I would just love to walk through these trees.  A trip northward seems to be in my future.

In the mean time I am feeling somewhat better with more energy this week so I have been sorting through yarn and patterns and fabric and beads to get crafting again.  I did come across a lovely free crochet pattern for this sweater: http://www.crochetme.com/media/p/88110.aspx
It is a Kristin Omdahl design and I am very found of her patterns, I have made a few of her shawls in the past.  Her website is here if you want to check it out   www.styledbykristin.com

Now I just need to choose the colors, yarn etc.

The weather here is finally clearing after nearly 3 weeks of gray overcast skies and lots and lots of rain we have a few hours of sunshine, the few cool mornings last week however are a distant memory and we are back to hazy, hot and humid.

Last week I joined a friend for an afternoon of sewing using some of the witch fabrics I posted about a short time ago.
We came up with a few cute ideas my favorite is the star shaped minis to toss around and stuff into baskets or bowls.
I just knew using a fussy cut of the cameo would work out nicely I made a dozen gift bags too but sent them off to my friend in Vermont and forgot to snap a photo.

It's October and for me that's the signal for pumpkin spice everything so while shopping at the supermarket the other day I stumble upon the International coffees and right there on the shelf was a pumpkin spice sitting right beside the hazelnut (my favorite).
And to my surprise while at Target I found a few tins of Harney & Sons Tea, I ususally buy it via internet so you can imagine my surprise to find it on the shelf, I bought the Hot Cinnamon Sunset tea along with some breakfast tea.  I have since brewed several cups of the Cinnamon tea and its quite refreshing and the perfect cup of tea to sip while reading a good book or two. I just finished reading The Wicked Garden.

Currently on the reading stack is Behind the Beautiful Forevers for book group and the next Mitford series book A New Song, I was very surprised by how much I enjoy reading the Mitford series the
books are such a refreshing change from the usual books I read, mystery, thrills and adventure, but more then that I am easily brought back to simpler times in my own life and some of the memories it invokes just lift my spirits.

And to round off the list of reading I can't forget the glossy magazines that grace my reading table each month.
Well my garden is still overrun with weeds and its going to stay that way for a few more weeks. The steady and often heavy rains has increased the growth of my bamboo plant and I will snap a photo soon and post it soon. This weekend is the master Gardens Tree and Shrub sale and you know with out a doubt I will be checking it out, I seem to have good luck with trees.

Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. Hello Deb,
Great fabric you found and I love what you did with it. Great Fall/Halloween decor. I think I would have purchased a yard of it myself.
Last week we had some really pretty Fall days here but today and thru the weekend back to hot weather. One good thing is, the days are shorter so the sun will not be out as long.
    Have a wonderful weekend.
    Blessings,
    Bobbie Lynn
