Stitching Bits Between Unpacking

Here we are with another Sunday upon us with some slow stitching on my to do list for today.

Unpacking is progressing at a better pace this week and the house is starting to resemble a home with most of the books now on shelves with all those boxes out of the way I can see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak and the kitchen floor.

I'm glad to have the task behind me and would love to say it won't happen again but I am a reader, a lover of books as long as I breathe there will always be books to unpack and shelves to put them on.  In fact, a new book just arrived on Friday, (thank you Amazon for speedy delivery), for down time with my fingers numb and tingling stitching was out of the question so reading a few chapters to unwind would do.
I did get in a little stitching yesterday afternoon not much because I popped something in my hand again earlier in the week so the tingling and numbness made holding the needle too uncomfortable after a bit.
The inner ring is nearly complete and after pulling out several stitches for the third time I put her aside.  While I was stitching I decided to change the color of the flower portion of the piece. I was planning a light lavender or green when it hit me to use rainbow colors, so I toss around the idea a bit in my head and looked at the piece wondering a different color of the rainbow for each flower, or each petal.  Then it hit me I unpacked a box of forgotten craft items some were hanks and skeins of embroidery floss, this Threadwork 1154 aka Bradley's Balloons may just be what I was thinking of.
It has the rainbow quality I want, it's a variegated floss so the colors will just flow so I won't have to change colors for each flower or petal.

Lately I have had the urge to embroider a sunflower or two and somewhere among my patterns I have a kit with sunflowers on it, well time will tell what I have time for.  Did you ever get an urge to embroider something specific?   I am linking up at Kathy's Quilts today here is the link check out the lovely things other bloggers are slow stitching. https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2019/07/slow-sunday-stitching_14.html

Speaking of flowers this week some lovely Mexican Petunias popped up in the front of my house.
I guess all the rain we have been getting urged them to come up, I'm so glad they did I love these pretty little flowers each evening the flower falls off and in the morning a new one appears.

I put my crescent moon statue out as soon as I pulled it off the truck,  I have a few other ornamental pieces to place in this area which will eventually be placed here and there.
For now gardening isn't even a consideration at this time if I come across a piece while unpacking it will make it's way outside, with the arrival of autumn I'm sure I'll be more settled and have a few planters in place.

A fun filled October and slow stitches on a Sunday

WOW! This month has just flown by and much has gone on this October, early in the month my doctor added a few new medications for my blood pressure and not high cholesterol and something to keep my blood sugar in check, since my A1C was 6.5 but the fasting glucose a whooping 139 I am back on the Metformin at this point I am now considered diabetic, its only for a few weeks to see how things go but in all honesty I think I should have stayed on the medication 2 years ago when the other doctor first prescribed it even though all the numbers were normal.  My echocardiogram came out normal my heart is pumping at 60% normal is 50-75%.

On a good note yesterday I spent the afternoon with my sister and great niece at The Pickin Patch farm in Dunnellon http://www.dunnellonpumpkinpatch.com/  It was my first visit and we had a great time picking out pumpkins and sunflowers, walking through the corn maze and taking a hayride before heading home.

my pumpkin
The sunflowers are bright and cheerful in a clear pitcher and the pumpkin is just the right size for display.  When the pumpkin begins to wither I am going to cut it open fill it with potting soil and see if I can get it to grow, I think I will try my h and at planting sunflowers this year,

The weekend before we visited a local church carnival and had a good time, my little niece is fearless and wanted to try every ride, unfortunately she is too short to ride most of the bigger rides even with an adult but there were quite a few rides just right for her short stature and the big smile on her face and the giggles rumbling out told me she had a great time.
